So begins the last day of the first week back in this pandemic. I’m not even sure I knew this word before it all started. I’m supposed to be in Worcester, Massachusetts, this morning for my niece Caroline’s graduation from Holy Cross. That’s not happening. It’s nice to be back working, though I’ve lost a couple of dogs. Probably get them back at some point. Very grateful to the customers that continued to pay me during all this. Also grateful to Shamrock Liquors in Highland, New York, for giving me something to look forward to at 7pm every night. The UPS charge has gone up from $26 to $42 since April 1. Is that gouging? I think it is. They are probably busier. Why do they have to do that? Thank God for the dogs. Only thing that is keeping me sane through all this. Them, and Shamrock Liquors from Highland, New York. I took off from my dog walking business from 4/1-5/17. The first week of April, I found myself having a pour of tequila by 3:00 in the afternoon. After a week had passed, I realized that this is a bad idea. So, I moved it to 7:00 pm. Note the pm. In the late afternoon, I started walking around the ball fields in Central Park instead of imbibing. Good idea, yet still up twelve pounds since we started social distancing. Just what I need. Well, it could be worse. If I wasn’t knocking out 8k in steps, and stretching, it could be a whole lot worse. A whole lot.
So, I’m at Polpette’s last night waiting for my spaghetti and meatballs. Great place. Nicky Meatballs lets a couple of people sit at the bar, while you wait for your food. Everyone is social distancing, and playing it safe. I’m having a Widow Jane’s bourbon, straight up, and Nicky Meatballs goes to pour more wine in Hardy’s glass. Instead, he pours it into mine. “ Did I just do that?” You did, I say. As he takes my glass away, I say,” Wait a minute. Let me make sure we didn’t stumble upon the next greatest concoction.” I had no high hopes, but for the laugh, I had to take a sip. We hadn’t. I wouldn’t say disgusting, but wouldn’t recommend. Liz and Chrissy stopped by. It was good to have some kind of social interaction, albeit safe. Have a good weekend.

He was great. A lot of great generals on both sides. He certainly had the manpower and equipment on his side, but he used it. The others before him did not. Thanks for reading the blog.
